While not all of these events such as the Monster Marketplace are geared towards the whole family, there’s no denying that October events in Memphis are some of the best types of Memphis events to hang out with your friends and family at this time of the year.
Escaping from an Escapology Escape Room
While most escape rooms simply require people to gather groups, solve puzzles, and escape from the rooms, here at Escapology, our escape rooms offer more than just intricate puzzles for frustrated friends and family members to solve. For instance, let’s take our game, Cuban Crisis. As you can probably guess based on the title, Cuban Crisis is based on the Cuban Missile Crisis that happened back in 1962.

Considered a classic amongst Memphian Halloween goers, the haunted corn maze at the Memphis Agricenter is a great way to exercise your problem-solving skills, as well as get you and your family out of the house for some fresh air in the middle of the night.
The premise is simple. All that you have to do is get out of the corn maze as soon as you can while trying not to be too scared of the Halloween jump-scarers jumping out at you. It’s basically an outdoor escape room, minus the 60 minute time limit and cooky puzzles you have to solve.

While we don’t recommend the contest to anyone under the age of 10, we can nevertheless guarantee that this competition is one that you don’t want to miss.
Exploring the Monster Market at Crosstown Concourse
A newcomer to the Memphis Halloween realm, the Monster Market is a great way to get into the Halloween spirit and find that perfect, handmade gift for a friend and loved one in time for the winter holidays.
While it’s not marketed towards children under 13, it is nevertheless a great experience unto itself. So if you love the creepy and the kooky and want to support your local artists, then come on by to the Monster Market before it disappears on November 1st!
Surviving the Shelby Forest Trail of Terror
Forget haunted houses! Outside is where the real Halloween haunting hours occurs.
Located at Shelby Forest State Park, the Shelby Forest Trail of Terror is a more open-aired version of the Mid-South haunted corn maze where evil creatures jump right out at you as you make your way through the forest at night.
So if you’re sick and tired of the same ole’ Memphis Halloween tricks and treats and are looking for a place of horror that’s slightly more challenging, then the Shelby Forest Trail of Terror is for you!
Please note that this event is not recommended for children who are easily frightened by the creepy and the cookey and that there is no cell phone reception inside the forest.
